1933 Essex Terraplane 6 Series K

1933 Essex Terraplane Series K

  • The Series K Essex Terraplane carried over from the 1932 Series K with the 6-cylinder engine and had a 106-inch wheelbase. According to Don Butler the first serial number was 364125. This might be an error in Don Butler's book. If the 33ET series K started with VIN 364125 then what was the VIN range of the 1932 ET Special Six series K? Currently I do not have any VINs recorded for existing 1933 Series K vehicles.

From a photograph it is very difficult to spot the differences between a 1933 Series K and Series KU. The differences include:

  1. The Series K has a 106" wheelbase versus the Series KU has a 113" wheelbase.

  2. The hood is longer on the KUs. This places the hood side louvers on the Series K closer to the radiator than on the Series KU.

  3. The front bottom corner of the cowl is more rounded on the Series K to accommodate the beginning of the curve of the front fender.
