1933 Essex Terraplane Series KT

The Series KT Terraplane Standard Eight had Serial Numbers beginning with 65001. They had a 113-inch wheelbase. Radios and heaters were an option. Enclosed cars came with an antenna wire inside the roof. I believe the antenna on the convertibles and roadsters was under the right-side running board. A rear mounted spare tire was standard. Single and dual side mount spares were options. The cars also came with 16" or 17" wire spoke rims. Ordering the side mount spare option might have required the use of the 16" rims. Another rarely seen option is the vacuum assisted clutch. Heaters were also an option.

On August 1 the Series KT Terraplane Deluxe Eight had Serial Numbers beginning with 73463. They had a 113-inch wheelbase. A radio became standard equipment, and it appears the antenna was moved to the outside of the cowl.
Commercial vehicles carried the Essex name but had Terraplane labels. Along with the bodies listed below were the bodies built in Great Britian by Railton, R.E.A.L, and Berkley. If my memory is right, this is the only year an 8-cylinder engine was offered in a Terraplane. This car could outrun the typical police car and became John Dillinger's favorite car to steal.
