1933 Essex Terraplane 6 Series KU

1933 Essex Terraplane Series KU

  • The Series KU Terraplane  Special Six had Serial Numbers beginning with 5001.  They had a 113-inch wheelbase. Radios and heaters were an option. Enclosed cars came with an antenna wire inside the roof. I believe the antenna on the convertibles and roadsters was under the running board. A rear mounted spare tire was standard. Single and dual side mount spares were options. The cars also came with 16" or 17" wire spoke rims. Ordering the side mount spare option might have required the use of the 16" rims. Another rarely seen option is the vacuum assisted clutch.

  • On August 1 the Series KU Terraplane Deluxe Six had Serial Numbers beginning with 11865.  They also had a 113-inch wheelbase, A radio became standard equipment.

Commercial vehicles carried the Essex name, but had Terraplane labels. Along with the bodies listed below were the bodies built in Great Britian by Railton, R.E.A.L, and Berkley.
